FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Business Litigation Attorney Thomas Patterson Authors Book on Handling Business Emergencies

CHICAGO, IL  – Thomas Patterson of The Patterson Law Firm, LLC authored a book on how to successfully litigate actions for preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders. “Handling Business Emergencies: Temporary Restraining Orders and Preliminary Injunctions” was published by the American Bar Association June 26, 2009.

Patterson started the project in 2005 and worked closely with Deputy Director of ABA Book Publishing Richard Pazskiet in determining its scope. In the book, Patterson captures the complexities of business lawsuits. He discloses the strategies for how to respond to a business emergency when you are looking for more than a money judgment. Whether an employee steals your secret formula or your treasurer is leaving the country with all your money, it’s time for a preliminary injunction or a temporary restraining order (TRO).

An intriguing guidebook for any business, professional or entrepreneur, “Handling Business Emergencies: Temporary Restraining Orders and Preliminary Injunctions” takes the reader on an inside view when it comes to theft of trade secrets, infringement of trademarks or copyrights, breach of employee agreements, asset preservation, restrictive covenants, shareholder remedies and more. Patterson reveals numerous examples of actual cases cited throughout the book. He discusses preliminary injunctions, including chapters on applicable standards, bonds, orders, enforcement, appeals and strategy.

“It took three years to write the book and after 25 drafts I could hardly stand to look at it,” Patterson said. “So I submitted it to the publisher and gritted my teeth through the page proof process. Now that it is out, I’ve been pleased with the positive responses and reviews and am looking forward to writing a second edition.”

The book is available online through the American Bar Association at https://bit.ly/2N91aI6.
