Cannabis business is a fast-growing sector due to the increasing number of states legalizing recreational and medical marijuana. In some states, the process for receiving a license is an incredibly competitive process, with applicants attempting to out-score each other to gain a limited number of licenses.  The competition is so fierce in part because of the value of the license itself.  Obtaining the license can deliver seven figures in value  based on the license alone in some instances.

Given the value and the competition, it is unsurprising that companies have arisen to assist with the application process, some of which are affiliated with lawyers. Depending on the circumstances, these individuals may have duties to their clients to correctly complete the applications and comply with their professional obligations in doing so.
